For Afrikan Farms, most of the current workforce were unemployed when the company started. Afrikan Farms is committed to meet, and exceed where possible, the minimum conditions of employment as set by the Department of Labour. For Afrikan Farms, employee welfare and equity is important.
While great progress has been made in improving the employment benefits of the workers and molding a coherent team, the goal of developing agreed protocols that regulate the land use between Afrikan Farms and families living on the land and conducting their own small farming operations on the same farm, has proven to be an intractable challenge.

The Afrikan Farms Internship and Bursary programme started in 2017. This programme has placed two young qualified female students in the Apple Orchard project and one male who holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture and Animal Science in the Feed Factory.
As Afrikan Farms moves towards transforming its farming methods it has realised the importance of investing in its employees through means of skills development and training. Afrikan Farms together with Agriseta awards eight employees the opportunity to study and upskill through bursary programmes.
