Chairman of the Board of Directors. Vusi brings invaluable corporate experience to the table being the former Executive Chairman of Thebe Investment Corporation.
Having persuaded key individuals that an investment fund should be set up to finance community projects, Khanyile helped to establish Thebe Investment Corporation in 1992. A community activist for most of his adult life, Khanyile has participated in numerous development programmes and community-based organizations.
Having retired, he now serves as Non-executive chairman of Thebe Investment Corporation, Independent Non-Executive Chairman of Santam, Chairperson of WWF South Africa. and Independent board member of Sun International Ltd.
In being the founder of Afrikan Farms (Pty) Ltd, Vusi is well acquainted with commercial farming practices.
Mr Mathenjwa is a graduate of the Owen Sithole Agricultural College with extensive experience in the farming field.
He joined Afrikan Farms (Pty) Ltd in 2004 and became Farm Manager in 2007.Upon the establishment of WeGrow Farming Enterprise in 2013, a subsidiary of Afrikan Farms, he was transferred to assist in the initial stages of the business.
Upon his return in 2014, he was appointed as a Director of Afrikan Farms and the Feedlot Department Manager. He has recently also been appointed as the Sheep Manger as at 1 February 2019.
With numerous years of experience in farming, and a diploma in agriculture, Sbongeleni has operated in the office of Farm Manager for 9 years being fully responsible for Cattle Department management, before moving to crop management for 3 years and now managing the Feedlot and Sheep Departments.
Mrs Khanyile-Isaacs is a writer, actor, television presenter and producer, and has a Master’s Degree in Broadcast Journalism from Columbia University, New York. Mrs Khanyile- Isaacs’ farming experience stems from her own herd of cows which are being managed on one of the Afrikan Farms’ camps.
Nsikayekhaya is the Cattle and Farm Manager
He joined Afrikan Farms upon graduating from Cedara College of Agriculture in 2010. He joined the company in the capacity of Assistant Manager: Cattle Farming Department.
In 2012, he assumed the full responsibility of Manager: Cattle Farming Department, for which he is currently responsible and accountable. Under his stewardship within the cattle department, Afrikan Farms were awarded the 2018 Beef producer of the year by ARC.
Thinus is the Apple Orchard and Technical Manager.
After pilot training in the South African Air Force Thinus obtained a B. Com (Marketing) degree at the University of Pretoria, and with more than 30 years of experience in farming, he is the Apple Orchard and Technical Manager.
He has operated as a successful Farm Manager/Owner, for 30 years being fully responsible for cattle division management, sheep, maize and apples. Thinus is most experienced and senior in terms of technical knowledge and ability as relates to apple orchard management and is therefore most suitable for this role.
Siphiwe Kumalo is the Chief Operating Officer of Afrikan Farms (Pty) Ltd since February 2018 and is responsible for the implementation of the business strategies approved by the Board of Directors and operations of the company.
In addition to this role, Siphiwe also acts as the Chief Financial Officer of weGrow Farming Enterprise (Pty) Ltd, which is a subsidiary of Afrikan Farms.
He has a combined 5 years of experience in auditing and management.
After qualifying with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), Siphiwe was appointed as Audit Assistant Manager at PwC’s Consumer, Industrial and Retail division.
He later joined Transnet Internal Audit as an Internal Audit Manager for Transnet Freight Rail, which is Transnet’s biggest division.
Siphiwe returned to PwC as a Manager in the Consumer, Industrial and Retail division, where he was later promoted to Senior Manager. His main clients which he was lead Manager on were Thebe Investment Corporation (Pty) Ltd and Calgro M3 Ltd.
He has extensive experience in the finance field and has been exposed, through his audit function to various industries such as Construction, Investments, Food Producers and Forestry & Manufacturing.
